Description

Flowers in a Dream is one of the works that most clearly represents the philosophical foundation of my practice. While inspired by flowers once grown in my own garden, the painting is not about their physical presence but about what remains after they have disappeared. The carnation and the small blossoms no longer exist in reality. They survive only through memory, where they return not as exact images but as emotional traces. Suspended between remembrance and imagination, the flowers become less tangible and more contemplative, moving beyond representation toward an inner landscape. Created with UV-reactive pigments, the painting reveals another visual dimension under ultraviolet light while preserving a quiet luminosity under ordinary illumination. The interaction between visible and invisible light reflects my interest in the relationship between presence and absence, memory and perception. Unlike my earlier representational flower paintings, Flowers in a Dream approaches the subject from a more abstract and conceptual perspective. Here, the flower is no longer simply an object to be observed. It becomes a vessel for longing, a fragment of memory, and a trace of existence that continues to bloom beyond time.

Artist Note

[Flowers in a Dream] Last spring, I planted carnations. In my little garden, they bloomed tirelessly until the chill of winter arrived. Even their fierce vitality could not withstand the piercing winds of deep winter. Now that spring has returned, not a single trace remains. But last night, I saw a carnation glowing like an eternal flame, burning with silent brilliance. Beside it bloomed two small flowers, smiling shyly in the quiet. All creations must fade. But if someone remembers, then it hasn’t truly disappeared. Longing is the warmest trace left by existence.
