Steel Rain explores the emotional weight of silence through the metaphor of falling fragments of light. Rather than depicting rain as a natural phenomenon, I imagined light becoming dense enough to fall like steel, transforming an invisible emotional landscape into a tangible visual experience. The countless luminous fragments descend through a darkened space, suggesting moments of memory, emotion, and thought that accumulate within the mind. Their weight contrasts with the immaterial nature of light, creating a paradox in which something normally associated with hope and warmth becomes heavy, sharp, and almost unbearable. The work reflects the fragile boundary between light and darkness, presence and absence, stillness and emotional turbulence. Created with oil paint and UV-reactive pigments, the painting unfolds through two interconnected visual layers. Under ordinary illumination, brilliant reds and luminous whites intensify the sensation of falling light, while under ultraviolet light another hidden image gradually emerges, revealing an invisible dimension concealed beneath the visible surface. Together, these two realities suggest that even the deepest silence contains traces of unseen light. Steel Rain represents an important exploration of light as an emotional phenomenon. By transforming fragments of light into the metaphor of steel rain, the work investigates how light can embody psychological weight rather than physical illumination. This exploration later contributed to my broader investigation into memory, light, and invisible existence.
