Description

When Longing Blooms was created during the final period of my representational flower series. Inspired by the elegant presence of blooming flowers, the work explores not only their visible beauty but also the possibility of another way of seeing. Created with UV-reactive pigments, the painting reveals a second visual image under ultraviolet light. This transformation is not merely a technical effect, but an invitation to imagine a world perceived by beings whose vision extends beyond the human visible spectrum. Under ordinary light and ultraviolet light, the same painting presents two different realities, suggesting that beauty changes according to the observer. The flowers become a point of dialogue between human perception and unseen forms of vision. They invite viewers to consider that the world may contain colors, light, and traces of life that remain invisible to us, yet are fully present to another existence. Part of my representational flower series, this work reflects my early exploration of light as a means of expanding perception, while preserving the atmosphere and emotional presence of flowers in bloom.

Artist Note

[When Longing Blooms]   You, who bloom only when I disappear, you, who come closer with a scent clearer under the moonlight, remain silent in the hesitation that keeps us apart and color me with a hue deeper than silence – the color of longing. Love blooms more splendidly in the places it cannot reach and so, I stay to protect you while you become a flower of longing.
