Frozen Time IV is one of the culminating works in my Frozen Time series, expanding my exploration of crystalline optics into a meditation on memory, time, and the invisible structures of light. Rather than depicting crystal as a physical object, I approached it as a visual language capable of preserving fleeting moments beyond the limits of ordinary perception. The geometric structure of crystal became a metaphor for time itself. Layers of reflection, refraction, transparency, and fragmented light suggest that every moment is preserved like a crystal facet, where memory is not erased but continuously transformed through light. The painting invites viewers to experience a space where time appears suspended, and where the visible and invisible coexist within the same crystalline structure. Created with oil paint and UV-reactive pigments, the work unfolds through two interconnected visual layers. Under ordinary illumination, luminous crystalline forms reveal a complex network of reflected and refracted light, while under ultraviolet light another hidden image gradually emerges, exposing an unseen dimension embedded within the painting. These two realities are inseparable, allowing the work to exist simultaneously as representation and abstraction. Frozen Time IV represents a significant stage in the evolution of my artistic practice. Through an investigation of crystalline optics, reflection, transparency, and the perception of suspended time, this work established many of the conceptual and visual principles that would later become central to my Crystal Flower series, where crystal functions as a vessel for memory, light, and invisible existence.
