Color of Autumn was created during a period when my exploration of UV-reactive pigments was becoming more refined. Through this work, I realized that UV-reactive pigments could do more than reveal hidden imagery under ultraviolet light—they could also enrich the brilliance and intensity of color under ordinary illumination. Rather than portraying apples as simple still-life subjects, I sought to capture the abundance and vitality of autumn through the vivid contrast between brilliant red fruit and the clear blue sky. The composition celebrates the richness of nature while exploring how light can amplify the emotional power of color. Created with oil paint and UV-reactive pigments, the painting unfolds through two interconnected visual layers. Under ordinary illumination, the UV-reactive pigments enhance the purity and luminosity of the reds, allowing the fruit to radiate with remarkable vibrancy. Under ultraviolet light, another hidden image gradually emerges, revealing an invisible narrative that coexists with the visible one. These two realities complement each other, expanding the expressive possibilities of a single painting. Color of Autumn marks an important stage in the development of my artistic practice. It strengthened my understanding that UV-reactive pigments are not only a medium for revealing invisible images, but also a powerful pictorial language capable of deepening the visual experience even within the visible world.
