Aspirations II continues the exploration begun in Aspirations I, approaching the same theme through a cooler palette dominated by shades of blue. Created with oil paint and UV-reactive pigments, the work investigates how thick impasto surfaces interact with ultraviolet pigments to create greater chromatic depth and subtle variations of light. Rather than emphasizing the intensity of aspiration, this painting reflects its quieter, contemplative dimension through layered textures and luminous blue tones. The countless particles dispersed across the surface suggest aspirations that accumulate over time like fragments of light. As illumination changes, the textured surface reveals delicate shifts in color, shadow, and luminosity, allowing the painting to exist as a constantly changing visual experience rather than a fixed image. Together with Aspirations I, this work deepens my investigation into the relationship between materiality, color, and light, while further expanding the expressive possibilities of UV-reactive pigments.
