Description

The Melody of Angels II – Version 3 is the third of four variations developed from The Melody of Angels II, continuing my investigation into how shifts in color temperature, texture, and the intensity of light can transform emotional perception while preserving the same conceptual framework. Rather than creating a variation through composition alone, I intensified the density of color, the contrast between warm and cool tones, and the rhythm of luminous forms. The result is a more immersive and energetic visual field, where light no longer appears static but pulsates with an almost organic vitality. The painting explores how subtle changes in color and texture can generate profoundly different emotional experiences. Created with oil paint and UV-reactive pigments, the work unfolds through two interconnected visual layers. Under ordinary illumination, vibrant reds, blues, and luminous whites interact through rich textures and dynamic gestures, creating a heightened sense of movement and radiant energy. Under ultraviolet light, another hidden image gradually emerges, revealing an invisible dimension that coexists with the visible one. Together, these two realities expand the expressive potential of a single painting. As the third work in this four-part series, The Melody of Angels II – Version 3 represents an important stage in my research into light as an artistic language. By investigating how variations in color temperature, texture, and luminous intensity influence perception, the series became a significant step toward my later Crystal Flower works, where light serves as the medium through which abstraction and representation converge.

Artist Note

[The Melody of Angels Ⅱ – Ver.3] ‘The melody of angels’ begins to beat like a heart. My consciousness is drowned out by the shifting colors. It gets a little darker. So many questions, so many answers… Now scattered into shards of light in a meaningless unconsciousness. Everything I wanted to do was a meaningless struggle after all. I realize, I am a trace of light.
