Mirror Lake transforms a tranquil lakeside landscape into a place where reality and imagination quietly coexist. Inspired by the still water, changing light, and reflections at twilight, Jennifer Lee created an imagined legend for the lake, allowing the visible landscape to become the setting for a story that exists between memory, dream, and fantasy. In the artist’s imagined tale, five moons appear when friends gather to share a drink beside the lake: one in the sky, one reflected on the water, one shining in a glass, and two glowing in each other’s eyes. Through this poetic image, an ordinary moment of companionship becomes something almost mythical, as the boundaries between the real moon, its reflection, and human perception begin to dissolve. The story continues beneath the surface of the lake, where a golden fish waits for a silver fish that journeys from the sea after the heavy summer rains. Their meeting symbolizes hope, reunion, and harmony, while their failure to meet is imagined to bring rain throughout the summer. The golden and silver fish become inhabitants of a world created through the artist’s imagination, extending the visible landscape into an unseen narrative.
