Description

Dazzlingly Beautiful III continues the emotional narrative of the Dazzlingly Beautiful series, first presented in my solo exhibition at Eun Gallery in Insadong, Seoul, in 2024. While the earlier works explored the fleeting brilliance of blossoms through the theme of Beyond Visibility, this painting carries that same vision into Crystal Flower, where beauty is transformed into a crystalline presence. The blossoms that once appeared delicate and transient now take on the structure of purple crystals. Their faceted petals, luminous surfaces, and intricate forms suggest a moment of beauty that has been crystallized, as though the radiance of a passing encounter could be preserved beyond time. Against a deep violet background, the flowers gather into a brilliant composition of pink, purple, blue, and white, allowing light to move across their surfaces like reflections within a jewel. The work retains the emotional foundation of the original artist’s note: the longing for blossoms, the desire to preserve their beauty, and the intimate serenade offered to a beloved presence. In Dazzlingly Beautiful III, that longing is no longer expressed only through the fragile life of flowers. It becomes a crystalline form in which memory, beauty, and the wish to hold on to a fleeting moment are brought together. Through Crystal Flower, I continue to explore how a familiar image can move beyond its visible appearance and become a vessel for memory. The crystalline blossoms do not simply represent flowers; they embody the transformation of a moment into something that seems to endure. Dazzlingly Beautiful III marks a continuation of my earlier figurative painting while opening a new visual language in which the transient beauty of nature is preserved as a luminous, crystallized memory.

Artist Note

On a languid midsummer afternoon, she approaches, leaving the sweltering heat behind. She comes in a dazzling, luminous violet, concealing even the scent of parting. Dreaming of eternity, I sing, and she dances.
